Switched out the Volare’s original rudder with a weed rudder, the swept back shape is designed to shed seaweed and kelp which is not a problem in Hawaii. It’ll be interesting paddling with the new rudder to see how it affects the canoe. If it’s not too squirrelly in deeper water it may become my regular rudder when I launch from my club’s site. There is a section of reef that is sketchy at low tide and my original rudder has already tasted it a couple of times. The original rudder is 11 inches tall the weed rudder’s height is 8 inches.

Currently I write about my film cameras and sometimes post images. My other hobby is outrigger canoe paddling and I'll post about that too. I wrote about my work as a librarian briefly but stopped. This started as a blog about my gardening work at home. View all posts by dionyb
